Located next to the Jupiter Hotel, a remodeled road lodge turned hipster hotel, this is a great place to see a show in Oregon. The interior is a modern spin on a cabin in the woods, and the patio gets crowded on weekends. It's also great for Sunday brunch -- get the salmon hash.

I love the Doug Fir. The food is all solid, the drinks are great, and the service is good, but most importantly the atmosphere is excellent and it's a great music venue. Shows all happen in the basement, in a boxy, close-in space that is highly conducive to an intimate concert experience, even in a packed room. The upstairs is done up in what is best described as "logger-chic" with logs an moose heads strewn about to make it look like the world's chicest cabin. The outside has a few fire pits that make for a fun communal space, and all in all it's one of the best all-purpose venues in town. That said, it is a huge hipster hole. If you constantly complain about hipsters or think that Portlandia is at all funny, stay away- it's wall-to-wall plaid shirts and thick-framed glasses in there. I love it, though, and it remains one of my favorite music venues.
