The Barrel House specializes in sour beer, and as much as I enjoy it, I'll be the first to acknowledge that it's not for everyone. I personally loved the tart, sour, and dry beers that they had available, and found it a nice break from the endless selection of IPAs and hoppy beers that typify Portland beer consumption. However, if you're not a huge beer fan, the barrel house probably doesn't have anything you're into. It's a place that caters to a certain kind of eccentric beer geek who likes weird stuff and bitey flavors in their beer. If you're looking for something relaxing and laid-back, go somewhere else. If you want to try some really excellent and highly weird beers, though, give it a shot. I loved it.
